Tipping Competition
Rules & Scoring
-
The tipping deadline for a race is the start of the first qualifications for
its round.
- (For rounds without a sprint race, this just means tips are due before qualifications begin. For rounds with a sprint race, this means that the tips for both the sprint race as well as the normal race are due before the sprint race qualifications start.)
- The tipping deadline for a season is the start of the first qualifications for the first race for the season.
-
Tipping a season requires you to pick a driver for the Driver's Championship,
and team for the Constructor's Championship.
- Picking the correct driver will give you 15 points once the Driver's Championship has been announced.
- Likewise, picking the correct team will give you 15 points once the Constructor's Championship has been announced.
-
Tipping a race requires you to pick drivers for a set of positions, as below,
and scoring the associated points if the pick matches the actual result, or
scoring Alternate Scoring points if any are relevant to the position.
- Points awarded for sprint races are halved.
- The results for a given event will be filled in whenever the admin can do so (probably as they watch the race) and updated in the case of the FIA updating relevant race results. (This includes changing First Place if George cheats again, Kaz.)
Scoring On Match Alternate Scoring Pole Position 1 Point First Place,
Second Place,
Third Place2 Points 1 Point if driver is elsewhere on podium Fastest Lap 1 Point First DNF 3 Points* * First DNF is a little complicated. Any driver who retires due to the first incident-causing-a-retirement in a race, or another incident sufficiently close to that first incident, will have been the "First DNF," so long as that incident occurred after the formation lap began.
As an example; if five drivers have a collision in the opening lap, three retire immediately, and then the other two retire later due to damage from that collision making racing unviable, all five will be considered to have been the First DNF of the race.
Some element of judgement from the administrator is present in part of this. For example, in our scoring of Monaco 2024, Ocon was judged to have been one of the four drivers to have First DNF due to his collision with Gasly being so soon after the Perez-Hulkenberg-Magnussen collision.
Naturally, the First DNF being possible during the formation lap is to make picking Stroll for something a viable strategy.
